Surfing has seen a dramatic increase in popularity over recent years thanks to the availability of equipment and shops, more surf schools, it’s health and fitness benefits and of course through the movieworld, it’s image!

What better time to come and learn how to turn, cut back or simply to pop up to you’re feet atop of one of the many Atlantic rollers that come sweeping onto the beautiful golden sandy beaches of Elly Bay back shore! With the stunning back drop of the Iniskea Islands coupled with a fine view of some of Ireland’s highest sea cliffs you’ll be sure to leave with a heightened sense of environmental appreciation and “stoke”!

During the Summer and Autumn months it is not unheard of to be taking off on a wave side by side with Bottlenose Dolphins which can often be seen hunting and corralling shoals of mackerel close to the shallows in the surf.

Here at UISCE we operate all our surf classes under the instruction and coaching of qualified Irish Surfing Association Instructors. We maintain a 1:6 ratio true to our standard operating procedures, which is proven to have an extremely advantageous effect in our classes from both a learning and safety point of view.



We operate our classes using the latest surf equipment including “swell” and “NCS” surfboards and “Wave Pro” Body Boards. Safety equipment consists of Phone and VHF communications, an onsite stretcher, and First Aid Packs swim fins. All classes have a Kishew (tent) with warm drinks readily available for those who like some comfort with their extremes!
